Bistro Tables and Chairs

With a look reminiscent of European cafes, Bistro tables and chairs are more popular than ever. Whether made for outdoor or indoor use, they add a touch of casual elegance to any space. Many furniture lines offer their own variations on the classic bistro style table, which can be bought individually or as a part of set with matching chairs.

Dimensions
One thing that sets bistro tables apart from other dining surfaces is their size. While not a rule, bistro tables are often taller than others- sometimes over 40 inches as opposed to the 30 inches that traditional dining tables stand- with chairs that resemble bar stools.

Most bistro tables are round, though some companies offer square and rectangular models. The diameter is less than for most "dinette" tables, which is why this design is perfect for small eating nooks and corners of your house or patio.

Styles
There are as many styles of bistro tables as any other type of table. Outdoor and more casual indoor models are often made with rough sanded solid or slated wood. More sleek tables come in black lacquer or various metals, including aluminum. Perhaps the most classic models are fashioned out of wrought iron, or a combination of wrought iron and wood.

For a fancier look, look at mosaic topped tables. In a mosaic, the top is laid with stained glass tiles or polished stones arranged in various designs. These can be built with either wood or wrought iron legs. The more common and popular of these are stained glass mosaic tables. Some companies who specialize in custom tables will let you, the customer, bring in a design of your own.

Whether you are looking for a classic cafe style table or something a little more playful (you can even find mosaics that spell out your favorite college team!), a bistro table can turn that small or awkward space into a usable dining area.
