Bistro dining sets are a great space- and budget-conscious substitute for a large and expensive dining table. Many times we find ourselves with a small nook or awkward corner that cannot accommodate a traditional dining set.
But you do not need to leave that space empty and you do not need to sacrifice style to fill it. With so many varieties to choose from, you will surely find one that satisfies your space, budget, and personal style.
Get set
Bistro sets usually come with two chairs, though larger three and four chair styles are available.
- The classic bistro set is made of wrought or cast iron. Indoor styles are usually a bit more delicate in appearance than their outdoor counterparts, but they are still sturdy enough for day-to-day use.
- The table tops can be made with a number of different materials. Glass tops are popular and lend a modern sleekness to the set. Wood tops can be finished and polished for a refined look, or left rough for a more rustic feel.
- One of the most popular styles is the mosaic top. A mosaic surface is inlayed with stained glass tiles or tile chips set in a design that, usually, follows the shape of the table (in the case of most- but not all- bistro tables, that would be round). Mosaics add a touch of color and old-world elegance to any room.

For a more 'funky' look, try bringing an outdoor bistro dining set inside. The large and ornate cast iron and aluminum works wonderfully for an eclectic style or for a larger loft-like space. Complete the look with some potted plants or a vine-hung trellis and you have a relaxing garden spot right there inside.
Bistro dining sets are great for making a dining area in limited space. In a studio apartment or a house or apartment without a formal dining room, a bistro table can create a designated space for meals out of what was previously just an empty corner.
